A CALL TO VICTORY

by Bruce Brady

See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.” Isaiah 12:2

I’m currently struggling with a ministry calling that is meeting a lot of resistance. While I know the source of resistance is Satan, it is presenting itself through members of my church. Talk about a tough challenge.

The human response would be to lash out at these people with righteous indignation, but God has thankfully kept me from doing so. Instead, He’s given me a spiritual understanding of the situation and the assurance that it will all work out. He’s also constantly reminding me that this ministry is not mine but His.

To make things worse, the people who are resisting me are my brothers and sisters in Christ whom I deeply love and respect. This tries my patience because I don’t understand what is causing the roadblocks. But that’s the point. I don’t understand because I’m not supposed to understand, at least not now.

What I do know for sure is that God will work His purpose in this situation. I’m certain the call to this ministry is from Him, so I know He will make it all come together with His perfect timing.

Whenever we set out to follow God’s lead, there’s no need to be afraid. Every time He sends us to do His work, our victory is assured. There may be many obstacles and victory may not present itself as we expect, but be assured His purpose will always be accomplished. He never promised us easy, just victory.

  1. Bruce, I read this today and will be in prayer for you. Yes, it is tough when you feel a pull toward something, only to meet up against resistance. I trust you are praying for discernment, not only for you but for those who oppose you? One other thought, perhaps God calls us yet the timing is not as we expected it to be? I do not know, but I do know God will make his will clear to you as you prayerfully follow after him. Bless you my brother, Connie

    1. Thanks Connie. I am trusting God for discernment and His timing. I wrote this more as a plea to Christians to live as Christians and not let the world take control of their priorities. I believe God wanted me to put this message out there.

  2. I'm adding this to my Monday journal, Bruce. Nothing is more discouraging than friends try to block the path God is leading you down. It's disheartening because we think these are the people who should be standing beside you and cheering you on! Can you tell I have experience here? ;)

I'm writing about Gideon this week and the Lord gave me this thought: God would rather accomplish His purposes with a handful of focused friends than an army of cheerleaders. Consider me one of the focused few :)

btw - Hope your time in Florida was good. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks Susan. I greatly appreciate the focused friend that you are. I know God will work His will in this and suspect that I was asked to do this particular project to bring to light the kinks in the system that need to be worked out. I consider everyone involved to be my friends and I know they are under a lot of pressure.

I'm still in Florida but will be heading back today. God bless you.
